Kanye West's Presidential Ambitions Hit Roadblock ¶
On July 5, 2020, American rapper Kanye West surprised his fans by declaring his interest in running for the US presidency. In a tweet, West stated, "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States."
However, West's presidential ambitions have hit a roadblock after it was revealed that he missed voter registration deadlines in six states. According to Ballotpedia, West failed to register as an independent candidate in North Carolina by March 3, Texas by May 11, and May 26 in New York. He also missed the deadline in Maine set for June 1, June 25 for New Mexico, and June 30 for Indiana.
Despite missing the deadlines in these states, West is still eligible to register in states such as South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Colorado, and Michigan, where the deadlines fall in July. This means that West still has a chance to register and appear on the ballot paper in these states.
West's decision to run for president has been met with mixed reactions, with some people supporting his bid and others questioning his qualifications. The rapper's presidential ambitions have sparked a lot of interest and debate, and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to overcome the obstacles and make a successful run for the presidency.
