On Monday, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a significant increase in market turnover, rising by 266% to KSh 553.5 million compared to the previous Friday's turnover of KSh 151.1 million.
According to the NSE's trading data, a total of 22.3 million shares were traded in 1,238 deals, marking a substantial increase in market activity.
Safaricom emerged as the top mover of the day, with 9.15 million shares traded in 218 deals valued at KSh 266.34 million. The company's stock closed at KSh 29.10, a 1.85% decrease from the previous day's closing price.
Other notable movers included Kenya Re-Insurance, Equity Group, and KCB Group, which saw significant trading volumes and share price movements.
On the gainers' list, Liberty Kenya led with an 8.21% increase, followed by Trans-Century, Flame Tree Group, Total Kenya, and WPP ScanGroup.
However, TPS Eastern Africa suffered the largest decline, with a 9.62% decrease in its share price. Other losers included BOC Kenya, Centum Investment, East African Breweries, and Standard Group.
The NSE All-share index declined by 1.58 points to close at 137.99, while the NSE 20 gained 3.16 points to close at 1949.12. The NSE 25, on the other hand, shed off 25.96 points to close at 3193.30.
