On July 6, 2020, FoodleDoodle, the first multi-brand cloud kitchen operation in East Africa, launched in Kenya, marking a significant milestone in the region's food delivery landscape.

Founded by Havar Bauck, Endre Opdal, and Achieng Butler, FoodleDoodle is a joint venture that aims to expand across East Africa in 2020 and West Africa in 2021. The company's founders have a proven track record in the hospitality industry, with Bauck and Opdal having founded HotelOnline in Dubai in 2014 to provide e-commerce and digital marketing solutions to hotels in Eastern Africa.

Achieng Butler, a former Chief Marketing Officer at Danone, ALU, and Airtel, brings her expertise in marketing and digital strategy to the table. She is also an adjunct lecturer at the United States International University of Africa and the CEO of Digital Odyssey, a Nairobi-based ad agency.

According to Bauck, the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the launch of FoodleDoodle, as it reinforced the need for a cloud kitchen operation that could utilize idle kitchen capacity to produce food for delivery under its own brands.

FoodleDoodle is not entering the food delivery business but will work with existing players like Uber Eats, Bolt Food, Jumia Food, and Glovo, which are expanding across Africa. The company's selective approach to partnering with hotels is essential, as it allows FoodleDoodle to offer a diverse range of food options to its customers.

As the global food delivery market continues to grow, FoodleDoodle is poised to capitalize on this trend. With its experienced team and strategic partnerships, the company is well-positioned to become a major player in the African food delivery market.
