On July 6, 2020, former Tusker Project Fame participant Alvan Gatitu shared a heartfelt message with his fans, thanking them for their kindness and support during a challenging period in his life.
Alvan had previously taken to social media to narrate his struggles, including being kicked out of his house, and how he had been dealing with anxiety attacks.
‘When you start your day one way and end up in a different place. Thankful from the bottom of my heart, God bless you. Humanity is still alive,’ he wrote on social media.
During an interview on NTV, Alvan revealed that he had previously suffered anxiety attacks and had been trying to hide his struggles from the public.
‘I have suffered anxiety attacks before. One thing I promised myself is that I would never be vulnerable enough to speak about where I am in life. I was trying to hold a fallacy that was hurting me,’ he said.
Alvan's decision to speak out about his struggles was met with an outpouring of support from Kenyans, who contributed towards his welfare.
His story serves as a reminder that many people are struggling in silence, and it's time to normalize the idea of speaking out and sharing problems.
