On July 7, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 cases reached a milestone of 8,067, with 181 new infections reported, according to the Ministry of Health's report.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had lifted partial lockdowns in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera counties just a day prior, on July 6.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases, stating that the cumulative samples tested so far stood at 191,394.

Of the new cases, 179 were Kenyans, while two were foreigners, with the youngest victim being a 4-month-old infant.

The distribution of cases by county was as follows: Nairobi (134), Kiambu (19), Mombasa (9), Kajiado (6), Machakos (6), Lamu (3), Murang'a (2), Uasin Gishu (1), and Kirinyaga (1).

On a positive note, 127 people were discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,441.

However, the death toll rose to 164 after four patients died of the virus, prompting CS Kagwe to offer his condolences to the families of the departed.
