On July 6, 2020, Robert Burale took to his Facebook platform to announce that he had tested positive for coronavirus.
According to Burale, he had been struggling to breathe after recording a Facebook program on a Wednesday and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital, where he was tested for Covid-19.
Twenty-four hours later, the results were out, and Burale was informed that he had tested positive for the virus.
He recalled the moment when the doctor walked in to the isolation room and said, 'Hello Mr. Burale, your results are out.' Burale replied, 'So I can go home?' only to be told, 'Unfortunately, you have tested positive for Covid, and we have to now take you to the isolation ward.'
Burale was taken to a treated lift, where he was briefed that someone would be waiting for him. He found a gentleman dressed in full PPE, who calmed him down and walked him to the bed.
As he walked through the ward, Burale saw grown men fighting for their lives, which left him scared and very scared.
For two days, Burale fought for his life under the great care of the doctors and nurses at Nairobi Hospital. He saw the Hand of God and was grateful for the progress he was making.
Burale urged his followers to be careful and to remember the frontline warriors in prayer. He also encouraged them to encourage these workers who were working hard to keep people alive.
He ended his post by saying, 'The battle is the Lord's, and we shall overcome. I humbly ask for your prayers. I shall stand testify. May the Lord have mercy on all of us. Please, the responsibility is now on you and I... stay safe.'
