On Monday, July 6, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the nation, outlining the guidelines for the reopening of places of worship in Kenya.
According to the President, the reopening of places of worship will be subject to strict conditions, with a focus on providing essential services while minimizing the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Places of worship were initially closed in March 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.
Under the new guidelines, only 100 people will be allowed to attend worship services at any given time, and the services will be limited to one hour.
Additionally, the President announced that schools of religious instruction and madrassas will remain closed.
Only individuals aged 13 and above, and those below 58 years, will be allowed to attend worship services in churches and mosques.
