On July 6, 2020, a shocking incident unfolded in Kisumu, where a 35-year-old policewoman allegedly shot her husband in a domestic dispute.
The officer, based at Kisumu East Sub County Headquarters in Kassagam, had been staying with her husband at a rented house near the station.
According to a report by County Police Commander Ranson Lolmodol, the officer had returned to her rented house in Dago area armed with an AK47 rifle and threatened her husband, saying she would kill him before killing herself.
She then shot her husband twice, injuring him on the right side of the head, before turning on the neighbours who rushed to the scene.
Fortunately, no one else was injured in the scuffle, and the officer then sneaked away from the scene, returning the firearm to the station before disappearing.
The injured man, a 28-year-old clinical officer, was rushed to Kisumu County Hospital, treated, and discharged.
The couple, together for three years, has a one-year-old son.
On Monday, the officer was arrested moments after midnight when she sneaked back to her house and is currently being held at Kondele Police Station, expected to be charged with attempted murder once investigations are complete.
