On July 6, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the resumption of air travel, effectively ending the cessation of movement in and out of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera counties.
According to the president, both local and international air travel will resume on July 15 and August 1, 2020, respectively. He also outlined strict restrictions for Public Service Vehicles (PSVs), stating that operators are free to transport passengers and goods across the country, but must adhere to the new guidelines.
President Kenyatta warned that vehicles caught flouting the directives will not be allowed into and out of areas previously placed under lockdown, including Nairobi and Mombasa.
