Published on July 6, 2020, gospel singer Betty Bayo has made a shocking confession about her past experiences with a man she loved.
According to Bayo, the man wanted her to change her appearance to fit his ideal, first by bleaching her skin and later by wearing high heels to make him happy.
"I once fell in love with a young man I was sure he would marry me," Bayo narrated. "He claimed he loved me too and would marry me if only I was light-skinned."
Bayo revealed that she decided to bleach her skin to make him happy, but the man's demands didn't stop there. He later told her that he would marry her if only she was a bit taller.
"Weee, my friend, I had no choice but to go back to my natural self," Bayo said, adding that she had to deal with the consequences of her actions, including feeling like a confused chameleon.
Bayo used her personal testimony to encourage her fans, warning them against trusting people who compare them to others and lower their self-esteem.
"To all my sister and brother out there trusting God for a lifetime partner, learn from my mistake," Bayo advised. "Any person who compares you with other people forces you to be who you're not, always lowers your self-esteem, and still claims he or she loves you is a scam."
