On July 5, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta selected Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to lead the Kenyan delegation during the inauguration of Malawi's new President Lazarus Chakwera.
According to Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Macharia Kamua, Senator Moi was chosen due to his seniority in the Senate.
Senator Moi was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba during the trip.
The KANU politician's spokesperson confirmed that Senator Moi had already arrived in Malawi's capital to attend the ceremony.
The State House has also sent over the speech of President Uhuru Kenyatta, which Senator Moi will read on his behalf during the inauguration.
