On Sunday morning, a tragic incident occurred in Tetu, Nyeri County, where an 84-year-old man, Joseph Wambugu, was hacked to death by his son, Mr Kiragu Wambugu, in a dispute that had been brewing for years.
According to a relative, the two had protracted disputes over the son's behavior, which had been turning violent. The dispute escalated on Saturday night, and the next morning, the son allegedly attacked his father with a machete at his doorstep.
Mr Boniface Ndugo, the dead man's brother, confirmed the incident, stating that the dispute was about the son's behavior. 'They have been fighting for a long time over the son's behavior. Last night they had an argument, and this morning the young man waylaid his father by his doorstep. He attacked him with a machete,' Mr Ndugo said.
The elderly man was rushed to Nyeri County Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was later arrested and taken to Nyeri Central Police station.
