Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made headlines on Monday, July 6, 2020, after he came to the rescue of a woman and her two children who were stranded on the road at night.

The woman, who identified herself as Susan, claimed that her husband worked at Utalii House in the Ministry of Tourism and that she was on her way to Mlolongo to visit a pastor who she hoped would offer advice after her husband planned to kick her out.

According to Susan, she had initially been able to travel to Machakos despite the cessation of movement order to visit the pastor but was told the man of the cloth was in Mlolongo, Athi River.

When Governor Sonko found the woman seated by the roadside with her two children, he asked her details about her husband and the circumstance that led to her fleeing her home.

"My husband is called Vincent, we stay in Rongai and he works with the Government, we had domestic issues. He works at Utalii House in the Ministry of Tourism, he wanted to chase us away and I saw it best to go seek advice from the pastor," explained Susan.

Governor Sonko catered for their accommodation and food and promised to provide more substantial help in the morning.
