On July 6, 2020, the Government of Kenya distributed essential items to the vulnerable in Kitale, as part of efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19.
According to reports, the Government handed out 5,000 face masks and 605 food stuffs to those in need, in a bid to mitigate the economic and social impact of the pandemic.
Speaking during the distribution of food stuffs at Kitale agricultural offices, Devolution and ASALS Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa emphasized the Government's commitment to supporting Kenyans affected by COVID-19.
"The Government is concerned about those affected economically and socially by this pandemic and we will do our best to make every Kenyan join in the fight against COVID-19," he said.
Wamalwa urged Kenyans to adhere to laid down guidelines, including wearing masks and maintaining social distance, to help curb the spread of the virus.
Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Samson Ojwang also warned public vehicles operators against breaking COVID-19 regulations, stating that their licenses would be cancelled if found guilty.
