On July 6, 2020, a brutal incident unfolded in Mithuthi-ini village, Kirinyaga County, where four suspects met their demise at the hands of angry residents.
The suspects, who were allegedly notorious thieves, had been caught red-handed attempting to steal goats from one of the area residents.
According to eyewitnesses, the residents laid a trap for the suspects and pounced on them as soon as they showed up to steal the livestock.
Confirming the incident, Mwea East Deputy Police Commander Lucas Chebet stated that the four suspects were 'cut into pieces by residents using pangas.'
Two other suspects managed to escape the scene, while the bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Kerugoya Hospital mortuary.
