On July 4, 2020, the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) handed over a site in Katilu and Kaptir wards to a contractor for the construction of a water pan.

The project, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the County Government, aims to support over 57,000 people through integrated landscape management, water harvesting, and spate irrigation.

County Executive for Agriculture, Pastoral Economy, and Fisheries Philip Aemun stated that the water pan is part of the project, which will enable the nearby pastoralist community to access water for their livestock and domestic use by reducing trekking distance.

Aemun added that the completion of the pan will supplement water deficiency in the area by constructing a pan with a volume of 117,360 cubic meters.

The project is expected to be completed within four months and will enhance effective livelihoods diversification by supporting food production and pasture for livestock.

Residents of Kalemngorok and Kaputir have welcomed the project, which was previously a battlefield for cattle rustlers.

County Executive Aemun thanked the National Government for restoring peace and stability in the region and urged residents to support the implementation of government projects.
