On Sunday night at around 8 pm, a domestic quarrel turned deadly in Nyalenda, Kisumu, when an Administration Police officer shot her husband twice with an AK-47 rifle.
According to a police report, APC Maureen, based at Kisumu East Sub County, shot her spouse after he failed to pick up her calls and gave their house help Ksh50 for lunch without consulting her.
The incident occurred at their rented house in Dago Area, where the husband, a clinical officer at Milimani Hospital in Kisumu, was watching television when the wife returned from sentry duty at Kasagam armed with the rifle.
‘She stood at the door while armed with an AK-47 rifle. She told him she is going to kill him and herself then cocked the gun, shot at him twice injuring him on the right side of the head just above the ear,’ the report stated.
Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene, but the officer fired at their direction, forcing them to flee for safety.
She then disappeared to an unknown place after returning the firearm to her colleague APC Nancy at the office.
Her husband was taken to Kisumu County Hospital, where he was treated and discharged in fair condition.
The couple, together for three years, has a boy child.
The scene was visited by OCS Kasagam, DCIO Kisumu East, and processed by crime scene staff.
