Two Dead, Eight Wounded in Nightclub Shooting

On July 4, 2020, a shooting erupted at the Lavish Lounge nightclub in Greenville, South Carolina, leaving two people dead and eight others critically injured.

According to Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis, the incident occurred during a Fourth of July concert, which drew a crowd of around 200 people.

Two sheriff's deputies who were passing by the club shortly before 2 a.m. heard the shooting and saw a commotion, prompting them to call for backup and emergency services.

When they entered the club, they found that the shooter or shooters had fled, leaving behind a scene of chaos.

The deceased have been identified as Mykala Bell, 23, of Greenville, and Clarence Johnson, 51, of Duncan, who was a security guard at the club.

There is no active threat to the public, police said, and officials are investigating the incident as a possible gang-related crime.
