On a summer day in 2020, a mother of a seven-month-old son attended a face-to-face interview for a position in a childcare facility. She had previously aced a phone interview in March and was well-prepared for the in-person meeting.

However, her son became fussy due to hunger, and she asked the director if she could feed him solids. The director initially hesitated, suggesting she wait until after the interview, but the mother politely clarified that she had brought her son's food and that he needed to be fed immediately.

Despite the director's initial reluctance, she eventually allowed the mother to feed and change her son in the lobby. The mother took advantage of this opportunity to feed and change her son, and then returned to the interview.

However, the interview did not go as planned. The director immediately told the mother that she didn't think she would be a good fit for the position, citing that she had only done this twice in 20 years.

The mother took to Reddit to ask users whether she was unreasonable for feeding her baby during the interview. While some users defended her decision, many others criticized her for being unprofessional and for not arranging for childcare beforehand.
