On July 6, 2020, a historic agreement was signed between Taita-Taveta Governor Granton Samboja and Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, marking the end of a 50-year-old boundary dispute between the two counties.
The joint boundary resolution agreement was signed at Rombo Trading Centre, paving the way for peaceful co-existence between the warring communities living on the boundary between the two counties.
According to Governor Samboja, the agreement signals a fresh start for a lasting peaceful co-existence between the two communities living along the disputed boundary.
“Today marks the end of a 50-year old boundary dispute between Taita-Taveta county and our neighbouring sister county of Kajiado,” said Governor Samboja.
Over 5,000 acres of the Rombo Group Ranch, which sits at the two borders, had been a point of contention between the two counties.
