On June 29, 2020, Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha received a letter from the EACC CEO, Twalib Mbarak, inviting him for an interview and statement recording at the Integrity Centre on July 6, 2020.
The EACC is investigating allegations of irregularities in the appointment of 13 officials to the county, including CEC member for Trade, Tourism and Industrialisation Dismas Mwasambu, Legal Advisor Maurice Kilonzo, Chief of Staff Mohamed Bute Galgalo, Advisor former MP Julius Ndegwa, and PA acting MD Lamu Water Service Company Paul Kimani.
The probe was commissioned following a complaint and comes as some tenures of County Public Service Boards, which are tasked to recruit for counties, draw to an end.
