Published on July 5, 2020, a shooting at the Lavish Lounge nightclub in Greenville, South Carolina, left a trail of death and injury. Two people lost their lives, while eight others were injured in the early morning shooting.
Greenville County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Jimmy Bolt said that some of those hurt were critically injured, although the exact number was unclear.
A sheriff's deputy spotted people 'running and ducking' outside the club around 2 a.m. while responding to an unrelated call. The deputy, who was headed to the unrelated call, called for backup and the authorities entered the club to find several gunshot victims.
The nightclub had advertised a Saturday night concert featuring rapper Foogiano on its Instagram account. However, the rapper and representatives for the Lavish Lounge were not immediately available for comment on Sunday morning.
The authorities are looking for two people in connection with the shooting, but their identities have not been publicly disclosed. It is unclear what led to the gunfire, but officials are considering the concert as part of their investigation.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster had ordered nightclubs and concert venues to remain closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, it is possible that the club had appealed this order.
