COVID-19: Kenya's Infection Rate Continues to Rise

On July 5, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 cases reached 7,886, following the confirmation of 309 new infections in the preceding 24 hours.

According to Health CAS Rashid Aman, the latest numbers indicate that the country is experiencing the steepest part of the infection rate curve.

Out of the 309 cases, 217 were male and 92 were female, with the youngest case being a 1-year-old infant and the oldest an 83-year-old man.

Additionally, 51 people were discharged from various health facilities, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,287.

Unfortunately, the death toll rose to 160, with CAS Aman confirming that 1 more patient succumbed to the virus.

The new cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading the pack at 193 cases, followed by Kajiado at 22, Kiambu at 20, and Mombasa at 18.
