According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, the infections were detected from 4,228 samples analyzed within a 24-hour period. The samples were collected from 37 counties across the country.

Meanwhile, the remaining 27 counties collectively accounted for 13.6% of the samples tested.

The new cases include a one-year-old infant and an 83-year-old, highlighting the virus's impact on people of all ages.

Of the 307 cases, males accounted for 217, while females accounted for 92.

The breakdown of cases by county includes Nairobi (193), Kajiado (22), Kiambu (20), Mombasa (18), Makueni (17), Busia (11), Machakos (9), Nakuru (8), Nandi (3), Turkana (3), Narok (2), Nyandarua (1), Kakamega (1), and Kilifi (1).

Health officials have warned that the rising number of positive cases could overwhelm the country's health facilities, emphasizing the need for Kenyans to adhere to containment measures.

As of Sunday, the total number of recoveries stood at 2,287, with 51 new recoveries recorded. The country's COVID-19 death toll remained at 160, representing a 2.03 fatality rate compared to the global average of 6.7%.
