On July 5, 2020, Kenya confirmed 309 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of positive cases to 7,886.
According to a press briefing by Health Ministry CAS Dr. Rashid Aman, the new cases were recorded after testing 4,228 samples from 37 counties.
Dr. Aman also announced that one more patient had succumbed to COVID-19, raising the number of fatalities to 160, while the number of recoveries rose to 2,287 after 55 more patients were discharged.
The youngest patient is one year old, while the eldest is 83 years old. The distribution of cases by county is as follows: Nairobi (193), Kajiado (22), Kiambu (20), Mombasa (18), Makueni (17), Busia (11), Machakos (9), Nakuru (8), Nandi (3), Turkana (3), Narok (2), Nyandarua (1), Kakamega (1), and Kilifi (1).
Breaking down the cases in Nairobi, the 193 cases are in Langata (56), Kibra (18), Westlands (15), Dagoretti North (13), Kasarani (13), Ruaka (12), Embakasi East (11), Embakasi West (11), Makadara (10), Starehe (10), Embakasi South (6), Kamukunji (6), Roysambu (5), Embakasi Central (4), Dagoretti South (1), Embakasi North (1), and Mathare (1).
