On Sunday, July 5, 2020, the Kenyan Health Ministry announced that 309 more people had contracted the coronavirus, bringing the country's total number of cases to 7,886.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, 51 people had been discharged from hospital, increasing the country's total number of recoveries to 2,287.
The new infections were recorded in 37 of the 47 counties in the country, with 4,228 samples collected from these areas.
Dr. Aman identified the 10 counties that accounted for the majority of the cases as Nairobi, Mombasa, Narok, Busia, Nandi, Nakuru, Kajiado, Kisumu, Turkana, and Makueni.
With the 4,228 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the total number of samples tested in the country rose to 189,263.
