Siaya Man Sells Stolen Police Gun to DCI Sleuths ¶
On Saturday, July 4, 2020, a team of DCI detectives in Siaya posed as potential buyers of a firearm and approached Kelvin Oduor Onyango, a 23-year-old man.
After Onyango presented the gun, he was arrested and detectives managed to recover 13 rounds of ammunition and police and army combat gear.
The ammunitions were positively identified as those that were stolen from Umala police station in Siaya county in December 2019.
According to the DCI, the detectives posed as potential buyers and the firearms were delivered to them within Siaya township where one suspect, Kevin Oduor Onyango, was arrested.
Onyango is being held at Siaya Police Station and will be arraigned after investigations into the matter are concluded.
Police officers led by Inspector Police Wachuiri Kinuthia of DCI Siaya recovered a G3 rifle and a magazine with 13 bullets.
The officers further recovered one Kenya Army trouser, Kenya police raincoat, and a smoke camouflage jacket.
