Two Killed in Grisly Road Accident in Homa Bay County

On Saturday evening, a devastating road accident occurred along Oyugis-Ahero road in Homa Bay County, claiming the lives of two people.

The victims, a 20-year-old boda boda rider named Kevin Omondi and his passenger Sophie Anyango, died instantly after being hit by a lorry that was overtaking a motorcycle.

According to eyewitnesses, the lorry driver was attempting to overtake the motorcycle when the accident occurred, resulting in the tragic loss of life.

Fortunately, a second pillion passenger on the motorcycle survived the accident with serious injuries and was rushed to Rachuonyo South Sub-county hospital for treatment.

The driver of the lorry was arrested and detained at Oriwo police post, and his vehicle was towed to the police post for further investigation.

Rachuonyo East Sub-County Police Commander Charles Barasa stated that the matter is under investigation, and appropriate action will be taken.

“Let road users observe traffic rules to avoid accidents on our roads. We will take appropriate action regarding the incident,” Barasa said.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Rachuonyo South Sub-county hospital morgue.
