MP Ayub Savula Released After Brief Police Custody

On July 5, 2020, Lugari MP Ayub Savula was arrested at a petrol station in Sabatia market, Butere, while fueling his car.

He was part of a convoy headed to Busia County, which included prominent leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

The police accused Savula of violating COVID-19 regulations, as the leaders were en route to address a public gathering in Busia.

After a brief stay in custody at the Mumias Police Station, Savula was released.
