Published on July 5, 2020, the Ladima Foundation, in partnership with DW Akademie, announced a short film competition for African women content creators and filmmakers to share their life stories during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four Kenyan short films have been selected among the ten winning films chosen by a jury across Africa.

The selected films include 'The Tempest' by Skinnor Davillah Agello, which tells the story of a dancer expressing how Covid-19 has changed her family and personal life.

Another selected film is 'Moyo' by Hellen Samina Ochieng, which tells the story of a young single mother working as an underpaid nurse in Mbagathi Hospital, Nairobi.

Love, a film by Zawadi Wambui Gathee, explores how the lockdown in the country has affected women, with some being forced to make difficult choices.

Face Mask for Sale, a film by Neha Manoj Shah, tells the story of a single mother in the time of Covid-19, stuck with no choice but to survive.

The competition aimed to encourage African women to share their real life stories from different African countries as they face various degrees of lockdowns.

The selected films will be streamed on the Ladima website along with other partner websites this month.
