On July 5, 2020, a Twitter spat erupted between political commentator Tony Gachoka and Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, with Gachoka calling out Abdullahi for his alleged role in aiding corruption.
Abdullahi had previously asked Gachoka to focus on nation building by starting a small business and creating jobs for young people, instead of engaging in idle talk.
However, Gachoka fired back, accusing Abdullahi of aiding individuals caught in corruption scandals, including former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, businessman Humphrey Kariuki, and others.
“Senior Counsel, you aid & abet corruption actors; Ruto fanatics call you a ‘great mind’ YET you feature in every corruption case. AA @ahmednasirlaw you represented Waiguru, Waluke, Deepak Kamani of Angloleasing & Weston – yet you can dare call me ‘idle talk’. A corruption enabler!” tweeted Gachoka.
Abdullahi's response came after Gachoka claimed that Deputy President William Ruto was no longer a billionaire, citing rumors that his cash reserves were drying up.
