On July 5, 2020, the Ladima Foundation announced the selection of four Kenyan short films in its film competition for African women content creators and filmmakers.

The competition, which was held in partnership with the DW Akademie, aimed to encourage African women to share their real-life stories from different African countries as they face various degrees of lockdowns.

The selected films include 'The Tempest' by Skinnor Davillah Agello, 'Moyo' by Hellen Samina Ochieng, 'Love' by Zawadi Wambui Gathee, and 'Face Mask for Sale' by Neha Manoj Shah.

These films tell powerful stories of women's experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic, including struggles with domestic violence, economic hardship, and the burden of care.

The competition aimed to answer questions about whether women are paying a higher price during the pandemic and how the crisis is affecting the role of women in society.

The 10 selected films will be streamed on the Ladima website and other partner websites this month, and the winners will receive 500 euros each and access to a year's worth of webinars on the USA's Women Make Movies platform.
