On Saturday evening, a speeding lorry collided with a motorcycle along the Katito-Oyugis road in Homa Bay County, resulting in the deaths of two people.
The victims were identified as Kevin Omondi, 20, the motorcycle rider, and Sophie Anyango, 23, one of his passengers.
According to Rachuonyo East Sub Police Commander Charles Barasa, the lorry was working on an ongoing road construction project in the area and was being driven in the same direction as the motorcycle.
"The rider and one of his passengers died on the spot. The other passenger got serious injuries and was rushed to hospital," Mr Barasa said.
Mr Barasa advised motorists using the route to be more careful, especially when approaching or being approached by road construction machinery.
