On July 5, 2020, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) revoked the licence of Swift Energy Distributors Ltd after it was found to be illegally refilling gas cylinders belonging to other companies.
According to Epra Director General Pavel Oimeke, Swift Energy was a repeat offender, having been caught flouting the Petroleum (Liquefied Petroleum) Regulations of 2019 on four separate occasions.
Mr. Oimeke stated that the company had been caught 'cross-filling' several times, and as a result, the licence was revoked. This means that the company is closed and will not be allowed to reapply for a licence.
The revocation of the licence comes after a number of gas cylinder leakages and explosions were reported in the past, many of which were attributed to illegal refilling.
As reported by The Standard, Epra had previously warned that failure to comply with the Petroleum (Liquefied Petroleum) Regulations of 2019 would result in the revocation of a licence.
