Cristiano Ronaldo Scores First Free Kick for Juventus in 43rd Attempt ¶
On July 4, 2020, Cristiano Ronaldo made history by scoring his first free kick for Juventus in his 43rd attempt, helping his team beat Torino 4-1 in a thrilling Turin derby.
Paulo Dybala opened the scoring for Juventus in the 4th minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, giving the hosts a strong start to the game.
However, Torino stunned the hosts with a well-taken spot kick after Matthijs de Ligt handled Simone Verdi's shot in the box, and Andrea Belotti scored the penalty to set up a nervy second half.
But Juventus took the game beyond Torino when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a trademark free kick in the 61st minute, making it his 25th goal in the Serie A this season.
The Portuguese became the first Juventus player to reach this feat since 1961, and an own-goal from Koffi Djidji completed the 4-1 rout.
With the win, Juventus took all three points and moved seven points clear of Lazio in second place, albeit having played a game more.
