Kenyan Woman Takes on Toxic Feminism ¶
On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Kenyan writer Aoko Otieno trended on social media after she took on toxic feminism and its hate against men.
According to Otieno, women should not use their personal experiences with a few men to create a negative stereotype against men in general. She argued that women should accept their place in society and not hide behind the feminism agenda to gratify their ill desires.
Responding to a tweet by Njoki Ngumi, who refers to herself as a feminist, Otieno said: "I revere your intellect on a repertoire of stuff - politics, current affairs. Until you wear the cloak of toxic feminism. It's a cinch that you, rookie, Mutoko and cabal are serial spinsters who just hate men out of personal experiences and tag it on patriarchy."
Ngumi had stated that one could not win against patriarchy by being reasonable. Otieno argued that men and women are not equal in anatomy, aptitude, and even in day-to-day issues in life, and as such, women should accept their place in society.
She added: "I have no time for any form of feminism that has the word gender attached to it. I only have time for equity feminists. Those who recognize the glaring fact that men and women are not equal in our anatomy, aptitude, and the issues we face."
Some tweeps agreed with Otieno's remarks, while others differed. Abuga Makori wrote: "Meet the bold, intelligent and focused incoming Migori Senator S Aoko Otieno. She's a seasoned writer and fierce defender of social equity. On top of that, she doesn't believe in toxic feminism. Jomigori, don't let us down."
Mr Abraham added: "Kenya has a number of female mavericks but none is like Aoko. She has earned her status. She is a woman just like you out there. Being born a woman shouldn't be a disaster to the masculine gender. Don't buy into the idea of fleecing men because it's a woman's calling. It is not."
