Kenya Records Highest Number of COVID-19 Cases in a Day ¶
On July 4, 2020, Kenya recorded its highest number of COVID-19 cases in a single day, with 389 new cases confirmed.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases were recorded from a sample of 4,829 people tested in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,577.
The Ministry also reported that 266 of the new cases are males, while 123 are females, with the youngest being one year old and the oldest being 93 years old.
Of the new cases, 386 are Kenyan citizens, while three are foreigners.
The Ministry of Health also reported that 88 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 2,236.
Unfortunately, 159 patients have succumbed to the virus, with five more deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
The new cases were recorded in various counties, with Nairobi leading with 248 cases, followed by Kajiado (36), Kiambu (27), Mombasa (23), Busia (17), Machakos (10), and Migori (9).
Other counties that recorded new cases include Kitui (6), Makueni (3), Uasin Gishu (3), Nakuru (2), Kilifi (2), Garissa (1), Muranga (1), and Narok (1).
