On July 4, 2020, the German nursing profession embarked on a new journey with the introduction of generalist training, a reform aimed at providing a more comprehensive education for nursing professionals.
The reform, which was passed by the Bundestag in June 2017, allows individuals to pursue a career in nursing with various specializations, including elderly care, pediatric care, and geriatric care.
At the gfg Rostock, students can enroll in a generalist nursing education program, which consists of three years. The first two years provide a foundation in generalist training, while the third year offers the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of nursing.
One of the benefits of this new training program is that it allows individuals to switch between different professions in the elderly, sick, and pediatric care sectors, making it an attractive option for those seeking a career in nursing.
Additionally, the program offers flexible instruction, with students able to pursue part-time retraining or continue their education in other EU countries.
