Kenya Records 7,577 COVID-19 Cases, 389 New Infections

On July 4, 2020, Kenya reported 7,577 COVID-19 cases, a significant increase from the previous day, with 389 new infections confirmed from a sample of 4,829 within a 24-hour period.

The cumulative number of samples tested since March stood at 185,035, indicating a substantial effort to combat the pandemic.

Among the new cases, 266 were males and 123 were females, with the youngest being a one-year-old infant and the oldest 93 years old.

The cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading the list with 248 cases, followed by Kajiado with 36 cases, Kiambu with 27 cases, and Mombasa with 23 cases.

According to the health ministry, the cases in Nairobi were reported in various sub-counties, including Dagoretti North, Kibra, Langata, and Ruaraka.

Similarly, Kajiado's 36 cases were reported in Kajiado Central, Kajiado East, and Kajiado North.

In Kiambu, the 27 cases were reported in Kiambaa, Kikuyu, and Ruiru, while in Mombasa, the cases were reported in Mvita, Nyali, Jomvu, and Likoni.

The total number of recoveries rose to 2,236 after 88 additional patients were given a clean bill of health.

Coronavirus-related deaths rose to 159 after 5 more patients succumbed.
