COVID-19 Cases Rise in Kenya

On July 4, 2020, Kenya reported a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, with 389 people testing positive from 4,829 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The total number of positive cases in the country now stands at 7,577 from cumulative tests of 185,035 samples.

Of the new cases, all except three are Kenyans, with 266 males and 123 females affected. The youngest case is one year old, while the oldest is 93 years old.

This is the highest number of cases recorded since the first case was reported in March.

88 more people have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,236, while five others succumbed to the disease, raising the death toll to 159.

As the country celebrates the recoveries, it is also mourning the loss of five patients to the disease. The families and friends of the deceased are in the thoughts and prayers of the nation.

The positive cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi reporting the highest number of cases at 248, followed by Kajiado, Kiambu, Mombasa, and Busia.
