On 3 July, Deputy President William Ruto addressed a funeral in Nandi County, where he spoke about the ongoing Jubilee purge that has seen several of his supporters removed from key positions in the National Assembly and Senate.

According to Ruto, the purge and realignment within the Jubilee party will not deter his presidential ambitions.

He appealed to Kenyans to pray for him as he completes his second term as the country's deputy president, stating, "If you see them coming together because of me, it is because I am not a weak candidate, pray for me."

Ruto also emphasized the importance of unity, saying, "Even though there are many challenges in political parties and the country as a whole, all of us need to know that we can only succeed if we work together."

He further urged residents not to be swayed by politics that breeds bitterness and conflict, saying, "After the purge in Jubilee we have decided that you are either with us or you dine with the opponents."
