Jose Mourinho's Tottenham side suffered a damaging 3-1 defeat at Sheffield United on July 4, a result that has left their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League in tatters.

The loss was particularly galling for Mourinho, who felt that his team lacked the desire to fight back from a controversial VAR decision that denied them a first-half equalizer.

"There was a lot in the game, there was a possibility of shortening distances to Champions League positions, there was the possibility of being more stable for the Europa League positions fight," Mourinho told reporters on Saturday.

However, despite his team's efforts, Tottenham were ultimately outfought by the Blades, and Mourinho was left feeling disturbed by his team's lack of fight.

"It's something that destroys me a little bit on the inside because I think the last thing in football is when you have the feeling you could, you should do more," Mourinho said.

With their chances of qualifying for the Champions League now in jeopardy, Tottenham will look to resurrect their Europa League hopes against Everton on Monday.

However, they will be without England midfielder Dele Alli, who picked up a hamstring injury in training on Saturday.
