Kenya Records Highest Daily COVID-19 Cases at 389

On July 4, 2020, Kenya confirmed 389 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases to 7,577. This is the highest number of daily cases recorded in the country so far.

According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the new cases were recorded from 4,289 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total samples tested in the country to 185,035.

Of the positive cases, 266 are males and 123 are females, with the youngest being a 1-year-old and the oldest 93 years old.

88 patients had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,236. The death toll from COVID-19 in Kenya rose to 159 after five more fatalities were confirmed.

CS Kagwe noted, "From the statistics, it is indicative that we have lost too many lives already. We cannot afford to lose any more. We must, therefore, as a nation, renew our commitment to observing the containment measures, without which, this disease could easily overrun our healthcare facilities."

The new cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading with 248 cases, followed by Kajiado, Kiambu, Mombasa, Busia, Machakos, Migori, Kitui, Makueni, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Kilifi, Garissa, Muranga, and Narok.
