Olivia McCann, a 21-year-old flight attendant from Lancashire, England, is speaking out about her disastrous experience with lip fillers. In 2018, she first started getting lip fillers, paying £230 for 1ml spread across her top and bottom lips. She loved the results, but things took a turn for the worse six months later when she paid £150 for a 0.5ml top-up.
Olivia claims that the beautician injected the lumps themselves instead of fully dissolving her lips as suggested. She said, 'I'd asked for my top lip to be a bit fuller, but instead of trying to create a cupid's bow shape, she just sort of jabbed it straight in all over the place.'
As a result, Olivia developed pea-sized lumps in her lips that didn't budge no matter how much she massaged them. She added, 'My lips were a lumpy mess, they didn't look right at all. I cried when I looked at myself in pictures as I thought my lips looked silly, they looked like they'd been stung by a bee.'
Despite the initial success of her lip fill treatment in 2019, Olivia's subsequent procedures were marred by complications. During one procedure, her lips were injected with dissolver and vigorously massaged, causing them to rapidly balloon. She said, 'When I went to them, they said they couldn't use [it] on my lips and give me what I wanted unless I had my lips dissolved. She put the dissolver in and she massaged my lips so hard - it was the worst out of all dissolvings I've had pain-wise.'
Olivia's ordeal has left her with a lump-free and filler-free lip, but she's not giving up on lip fillers. She's chosen to go to a reputable salon with medically-trained beauticians and good reviews from customers. She advises others to do their research and choose a reputable salon with good work and customer reviews.
