Published on July 4, 2020, Brenda Wanga, wife of a Kenyan footballer, has shared her message of hope after being laid off from NTV, along with several others.

Wanga, who was laid off alongside Ken Mijungu, Debarl Inea, and Harith Salim, penned a powerful message, saying, 'When you become a statistic! We shall rise from these ashes, like the phoenix.'

Her words echo the sentiments of Ken Mijungu, who took to social media to announce his layoff, saying, 'The axe fell at NTV's newsroom and I was on its way. 7 years in those corridors summed up in a two-page letter of termination. We live to fight another day. Thanks to God, He remains the greatest, thank you NTV for the opportunity and thank you for always staying tuned.'

Wanga's message is a testament to the resilience of those who have been laid off, including those who lost their jobs at Media Max in June 2020. As one door closes, another opens, and it is hoped that they will be able to pick up the pieces and move on.
