Belgrade, Serbia - July 4, 2020

World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena have tested negative for COVID-19, nine days after initially testing positive.

The news comes after Djokovic, along with fellow players Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, and Viktor Troicki, tested positive for the virus after participating in the Adria Tour, an exhibition tournament organized by Djokovic.

According to a statement from Djokovic's media team, the couple felt no symptoms of the virus and took the test after consulting with doctors.

They had spent the past 10 days in self-isolation in Belgrade, adhering to all COVID-19 protocols and safety measures.

The Adria Tour, which was held in two legs in Belgrade and Zadar, Croatia, has been criticized for its handling of the pandemic, with players and officials failing to maintain social distancing.

Djokovic has since apologized for the harm caused by the event, which was held despite Serbia having over 15,000 registered cases and 287 deaths due to the pandemic.
