On July 4, 2020, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr, traveled to South Dakota to attend the US president's Fourth of July speech and celebration fireworks at Mount Rushmore.

Guilfoyle, a former Fox News television personality, was immediately isolated after discovering she had contracted the virus in a routine test conducted on anyone expected to come in close contact with the president.

According to the New York Times, Guilfoyle, 51, was asymptomatic and would be retested to ensure the diagnosis was correct.

As a precaution, Guilfoyle canceled all upcoming events, and Donald Trump Jr, who tested negative, also self-isolated and canceled his public events.

Guilfoyle's positive test result makes her the third person close to the US president to return a positive Covid-19 test, following the president's personal valet and the US vice president's press secretary.
