On Saturday, detectives in Kitale made a significant breakthrough in the fight against car theft, arresting a 48-year-old suspect believed to be behind a syndicate operating in the South and North Rift regions.
The suspect, identified as David Ogeisia Migosi, also known as Mwalimu, was a teacher at St Columbans Secondary School in Kitale. During the arrest, Migosi was found in possession of 17 fake logbooks and a Toyota Probox vehicle.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Migosi directed detectives to one of his hideouts in Matunda, where two of his accomplices were also arrested.
During the operation, detectives recovered seven vehicles, including a Toyota Axio, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Probox, Toyota DX, Toyota Premio, Toyota Hiace, and an Isuzu D-MAX Pick-Up.
Other items recovered include fake registration number plates, chassis number stickers, ignition system, chequebook, dismantled number plates, chassis plate, and sale agreements.
The operation is ongoing, with the three suspects awaiting arraignment in court.
