On July 3, 2020, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru proposed a seven-member team to oversee a peace and reconciliation process between her and members of the Kirinyaga County Assembly. However, she has since withdrawn the team to give room for further consultations.

According to a press statement issued by Governor Waiguru on Saturday morning, the list of proposed names was withdrawn 'to give room for further consultations.' The team was composed of J.S Mathenge, Archbishop Anthony Muheria, Paul Maringa, Nancy Karigithu, Mary Kimonye, John Njiraini, and Charles Ndegwa Mwai.

Among those contacted, only Transport Principal Secretary Prof. Paul Maringa and Pastor Charles Ndegwa Mwai expressed support for the peace and reconciliation process. Majority of the proposed team members stated they were not aware of the proposed list.

Principal Secretary Department for Public Service Mary Kimonye expressed regret that as a serving public servant, she could not be part of the process due to her long absence from Kirinyaga County.

Meanwhile, Kirinyaga MCAs led by Majority Leader James Kamau Murango, David Mathenge, and Gudson Muchina have asked Governor Waiguru to comply with recommendations made by the Senate in her impeachment report. The Senate had recommended that four County Government employees be investigated by EACC and DCI over misuse of county funds.
