Three Arrested, Kidnap Victim Rescued in Meru

On June 19, 2020, a family in Meru County reported their loved one missing at Kangeta Police Station, prompting an intelligence-led operation by the DCI in conjunction with the police.

After 14 days of abduction, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested three suspected kidnappers and rescued the victim in a thicket near Njuri Ncheke forest in Mpinda village, Meru County.

The trio, identified as Patrick Kimathi, Joseph Karithi, and Daniel Muroki, had demanded a ransom of Ksh.150,000, but are now in lawful custody as items recovered from the scene are kept as exhibits.

According to reports, the victim was being held captive for 14 days before the rescue operation, which was a result of an intelligence-led operation by the DCI in conjunction with the police.
